Installation in a wall The diagram on the right shows the BC-Brandschutz-Schott S 90/UNO, installed in a wall, as per General Building Inspection Certificate Z-19.15-1016. As for this S 90 cable penetration system only one mineral fibre board of 80 mm thickness is needed, a cost reduction of up to 30 % could be achieved.

Installation in the ceiling The same system, installed in the ceiling. The BC-Brandschutz-Platte 80 (80 mm mineral fibre board) will be installed flush with the floor.

Cable penetration system with the single plate penetration system BC-Brandschutz-Schott S 90 / UNO. The mineral fibre plate can be installed in wall penetration systems either flush with the wall or in the middle of the wall. A permanent sign has to be installed near the penetration seal.

This cable penetration sealing could be installed only from one side of the wall. The frame of fire resistant plates was fastened fire safe on the wall and allowed to mount a second BC-Brandschutz-Platte 80 on the wall as a special “trouble-shooter”.
It is only a slight variation which was done with the acceptance with the building supervision authority.

By the cable penetration systems BC-Brandschutz- Schott S 90 / UNO or BC-Brandschutz-Schott S 90 / Kombi, authorized by the German Institute for Building Technology, the bandaged cable trays will be separated in two different fire compartments. A fire or smoke spread into neighboured rooms through cables will be impossible.

Model of a sample penetration sealing BC-Brandschutz- Schott S 90 / UNO. The total length of the coating must be 48 cm (2 x 20 cm + 8 cm). The gussets in the area of the BC-Brandschutz-Platte 80 are to be closed with BC-Brandschutz-Spachtel (putty). A further advantage of this system is the easily after installation:
- Piercing of the plate with a screw – driver of knife
- Pull through the cable
- Close the remaining gap with BC-Brandschutz-Farbe viskos (paint viscous) from a cartridge and coat the cable at 20 cm on each side

The cable and cable supporting construction can be installed with a zero – distance to the sides or the bottom of the wall penetration. The space to the top of the wall penetration and between the single cable leads must be not smaller than 40 mm as of installation purposes.

The BC-Brandschutz-Platte 80 can be installed flush with the wall or in the middle of the wall. Due to this very simple construction an after-installation measure or control of the construction can be done at any time.

Big scale test of the cable penetration seal BC-Brandschutz-Schott S 90 / UNO at a material testing institute. The picture shows the additional temperature measuring on the outside area after a fire of 90 minutes. No major smoke emissions were found on the outside.

Test specimen after a 120 minutes fire test as per DIN 834 (ETK – curve). The outside area was nearly undestroyed. Due to the intumescent and self-sealing behaviour only minor quantities of smoke are found on the outside during the fire test.

This picture shows the inside of a penetration seal in a big scale test after 112 minutes of fire after the ETK – curve. The intumescent system products BC-Brandschutz-Farbe, -Spachtel and the BC-Brandschutz-Platten have prevented a fire transfer to the outside area. In the gussets rests of the fire retardant foam are visible.

Fire test at a material testing institute with a cable penetration sealing, which has been built in not conform to the approval.
The picture shows the outer side of the test construction, the cables have been inflamed at temperatures of about 250°C, without being in
direct contact with the flames, and allow a fire spread into further segments of the building.

Work with the products BC-Brandschutz-Farbe and BC-Brandschutz-Spachtel. The taping of the cable trays and the wall is very helpful.
